Also, now I want a burger, or some pizza, or a sausage.
(I totally get the way the fandom connection. I have a mug like the ones the cast drink out of in Newsradio, and I always get such a little kick when I'm drinking coffee out of it, even though it's totally meaningless and goofy. Always picks me up a little in the morning.)

That Hannibal mug sounds great! It's always awesome to find something that's relatively small and ubiquitous that's still meaningful for your fandom. It's almost like you're cosplaying and no one else even knows.
Re: beer I actually feel like IPA works really well with food, especially pizza. The hoppiness cuts through the fattiness of pizza for me and it makes a really good combination. But, you know, taste is taste.

I've had a few that were pretty hoppy (in the range of pretty decent to dear god why would you do this to a beer) so I'd be curious to see how it compares.
On the Wikipedia page, it shows the following as "active" Bitburger pilsners: Bitburger Premium Pils, König Pilsener, Licher, and Wernesgrüner Pils Legende. Was it one of these?
