It's never gonna happen (not that kind of canon) but I kinda wish KuroBa would just make AoKuro canon or something. I love Kagami, used to even pair him with Kuroko myself, but seriously, I honestly don't think you can go straight to ficcing them in a happy, devoted, balanced relationship without first addressing the issue of Kuroko basically using Kagami as Aomine 2.0, now with more love for basketball. He's the rebound guy, and Kuroko himself said it didn't have to Kagami, could be anybody at all, he just needed someone he can use to defeat the Kiseki no Sedai (or, more spesifically defeat Aomine and 'see him smiling while playing basketball again').

Kagami was once sweating blood on the court and Kuroko's just saying 'he reminded me of Aomine'. Is there nothing the poor kid can do to be acknowledge as himself? *pats the kid* And this is while he's struggling with his big brother figure saying they're no longer brothers as a matter of pride. Kid can't get a break.

There are a lot of issues about this ship that needs to be addressed, but Kuroko seems to be the fandom darling, and people readily handwaved it when he says hurtful/thoughtless things like that (even if he never meant to be cruel). It's like Kagami being brash and in-your-face is an excuse to not worry about hurting his feelings.

The main character currently annoys me, but it's an entertaining anime/manga nonetheless

It's shippy for sure because of the rivals friendships, etc, but it's not really gay? As in fanservice or shiptease.

And now I really want to read fic along those lines. Not the AoKuro itself, but focusing on Kagami and how he reacts to everything you said. Completely agreed with that last line of yours, btw - if he gets upset at something, it just gets turned into comedy, which is really frustrating.

Tangentially, I also really want to see a fic dealing with Kagami's fear of dogs, and how he felt when Kuroko first found Nigou. I found the holding it up and chasing Kagami around it with just plain cruel (and again, it's played as comedy but if someone actively shoved my phobias in my face like that, and the whole team just watched like nothing was wrong... I'd be off that team pretty damn fast, no matter how much I loved the sport).

Oho man, that'd be great. I'd love to read a fic where the whole "rebound guy" thing was addressed. On the other hand and as of late, it feels like they are finally acknowledging ~~their feelings for each other~~ each other as equal. SPECIALLY, as of late.

I mean good LORD, the balcony scene. And then Kagami's "When I think of my past with him and my future with you (guys), it's obvious which is most important."

I dunno, if we're looking at them with slash goggles on, it's kinda obvious that the one that have more ~feelings (attraction, affection, attachment, etc) for the other is Kagami, so that line in the middle of the Yosen match didn't surprised me, but I never seen much from Kuroko (and in the balcony scene he lumped him together with the whole of Seirin), so I think OP's theory of Kuroko still hung up on Aomine makes sense (I mean, the crying in the middle of fighting Touou, the shooting practices, the hair-ruffling thing Aomine did...).

Basically, if you want balanced relationship, Kiyoshi/Hyuuga is the only way to go, is what I'm sayin' :P
