Fighter pilot. I loved planes as a kid, but my eyesight was terrible. There's surgery for that now and I've had it, but I'm way too old.

My dad was turned down from military flight school because his eyesight wasn't 20/20. Ended up leaving the whole academy and went to Purdue instead since that's the only reason he was there to begin with.

I don't know if this is any consolation, but most Air forces around the world won't accept people who've had corrective laser surgery anyway.

The resulting flaws from the surgery and the increased chance of the retina detaching make it way too risky.
