It's Kind of Logical Though

I mean if hot people do something morally questionable, well, at least they're still hot. Whereas if an unattractive person does it, its' kind of…wow…so not only are you ugly, but you're also kind of an asshole. Pretty much worthless then. If you can't like a character for their personality, the only thing left is eye candy so it kind of makes sense that we're more forgiving of hot characters because they have other redeeming features -- their looks.

You can debate the morality of this but it's not at all hard to understand why it happens.
