Re: Laundry Files fans?

I madly adore the Laundry series, but I haven't had a chance to acquire that one yet, and probably won't for a while. I want it so bad. This series has honestly become one of my all-time favourites over the last few years.

Just to ask, is this one closer in tone to Atrocity Archives/Fuller Memorandum, or to Jennifer Morgue/Apocalypse Codex?

bro you need to get this book, it is so good

And it's a lot closer in tone to Fuller I think, but I may be projecting on the fact it deals with some similar themes (and that one was also my favorite). It does do that thing AC did where Bob the Narrator will look away from Bob the Character in order to pull in some back story, but since a lot of those scenes were absolutely hilarious I was 100% OK with it.

If you read Equuoid, I think that's actually the closest in tone. (read equuoid holy shit.)

AC and Fuller were my favourite novels, so I am absolutely A-Okay with projecting them. Heh. And I also read Equoid, much more recently since it took me a while to realise you can get a lot of the shorts online. That was ... I like Bob, but he is so awesomely alarming sometimes. Heh. Actually, those are probably my favourite times, which is probably why Fuller is also my favourite novel (and the moments in Codex where other people realise the little lingering consequences of Fuller, namely the 'squid reaping unwary crabs' thing, are my favourite parts of that book too).

I need to get this one, then. So, sooo need it.

Noted and agreed, then! Heh. I'll get a hold of it somehow.
