Mostly posting this for ideas, because I need one for a trip coming up.

Tankinis, mostly. I'm uncomfortable with too much exposure, but I hate one-pieces because they're impossible to put back on if you take them off while they're wet (say, to go to the bathroom).

I had this one halter-top one-piece that worked out fine though. It all depends. Just get something that's easy to take off and put on when you need to. That's my main advice.

I had no idea what that term was, but I googled it and same. That's the type I love best.

Tankini top with boyshorts bottom is my own preference.

I don't like boyshorts panties (I imagine a boyshorts bottom would be much the same) but I did start wearing shorts over my tankini bottom bc I got sick and tired of shaving my bikini line (and of the inevitable rash that resulted), and I find pubic hair generally really gross, so I cover it up. I just use black gym shorts so the visual effect is probably very similar, if somewhat looser.

I like hipster underwear, and the only reason I don't wear boyshorts underwear is because I grew up on non-short underwear, so when I wear it I feel like I'm going commando. But I find them very comfortable as swimming bottoms. And, dealing with bikini lines and pubic hair is pretty much the reason why I wear them, too (and less wedgies).

Hmm, mostly just fairly plain black ones, either bikini or one suit. I have one with black-and white polka dots.

I liked bikinis for awhile, because I didn't look hideous in them despite being flat-chested. Then I lost weight and started looking like a skeleton, so I wound up getting a kids' one-piece just because it was small enough to fit while covering the worst of the areas...

Now I've gained a little weight back and am just like "screw it" and wearing bikinis again, because I like to mix and match. Though mostly the bottom I wear is always the same one with a built-in skirt, so I don't have to think about how well-shaven my bikini area is.

I need a new one. I'm thinking of going to an actual swim shop and getting an athletic suit, similar to this:

I think I'm over bikinis - partly because I think most of them are silly, partly because I'm pretty underweight and self-conscious about having rib shadows.

Just bought myself a bikini yesterday (and went swimming today), before that I normally wore a tankini and swimsuits. As I recently lost weight and muscle mass due to stress and depression I am way too worried about those swimsuits sliding off in inopportune moments though.

Can't stand bikinis 'cause I feel too accident-prone all the time. I tend to go for a halter tankini stop with swim shorts or a swim skirt (swim skirts make me feel super cute even though I have whacking great tree-trunk legs.)

Dramatic one pieces, generally. Either with fancy cutout designs, a plunging neckline, or interesting patterns. They tend to be on the more expensive side of things, though, so I also have a regular one piece that I got at Walmart and use for chlorinated pools. :)

I only have one (I rarely swim - it's a lot of trouble and makes me cold) and it's a cute tankini with a solid black bottom and a black-and-white top with a large stylized floral pattern. I used to wear one-pieces but a tankini provides basically the same covering-up while making it not almost impossible to use the bathroom, and they're generally just easier to wear. Also, if you get a tankini or bikini you might be able to find a place that lets you mix and match tops and bottoms for added creativity :)
