To lump not helping with the chores and other similar issues in with domestic violence seems tasteless. Maybe that's just me.

Agreed. Blaming domestic violence victims is extremely tasteless. Especially because abusers know exactly what to say and do to make their victims blame themselves. Not at all the same thing.

Not helping with the chores, yeah, entirely different ballpark.

Getting jealous of any male friends his SO has, on the other hand? That is a warning sign.
