Don't get me wrong, I'm all for siblings being cool, but I'm really sick of how much tumblr praises this movie like it's the best depiction ever. As people are saying, it was a subplot. The actual plot of the movie was a girl becoming friends with a cute alien. I watched the movie for the cute alien. Why is everyone forgetting about the cute alien?

Tumblr completely ruins things. There are so many movies, games, etc. that I was neutral about, but the over-obsessive people on tumblr make me hate them because no one knows when to stop beating a dead horse (or shut up about unfunny jokes). I really liked the humor in Shrek 2 but now any time I see anything from that franchise I roll my eyes so hard they practically get stuck like that.

Blacklist the stuff you like?

[personal profile] nyxelestia 2014-07-09 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, I don't really go on Tumblr much, anyway, for very much this reason, so I don't use any extensions or anything, and I'm pretty good at just ignoring shit on Tumblr, anyway. That said, if you are on Tumblr enough for things like this to pop-up, just blacklist the stuff which you like but aren't really part of the (Tumblr) fandom for. You can enjoy it every now and then at your leisure, but ultimately not have it ruined for it. :)

I would, but it doesn't work for people who don't tag things. One particular person I mutual with posts enough unfunny junk that I've just blacklisted their username since they're too lazy to tag (I'd unfollow but that's another kettle of fish I don't want to deal with DX).

But thanks, I'll try to notice trends of things people are being dumb about and blacklist it before anything gets ruined for me. I've never even thought about blacklisting things I'm ok with just for the sake of saving it from being ruined.

Ah, yes, the anti-taggers. Even though I don't blacklist things by virtue of my computer not playing nice with extensions, I pay attention to whether or not people tag. And I'm not going to lie, if a blogger doesn't tag in a reasonably useful manner (basic things like a fandom, or character, or pairing), then I automatically look down on them, and will be less likely to follow them and/or more likely to unfollow them down the road.

Why are you on tumblr then? Honest question. It sounds like it's doing a lot of negative stuff for you.

I like looking at all of the pretty fanart and talking with other people in my many small fandoms. It's just there's a lot of junk on tumblr I could do without. The people I'm friends with on there have the same stance on things I do; likes the art and friendly discussions, hates the dumb memes and "tumblr attitude."

forgetting Stitch? noooo

(Anonymous) 2014-07-09 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think we are? Didn't I read some meta comparing Stitch to Bucky Barnes right after CATWS came out?

Neither movie is only about sisters.

I think Lilo & Stitch fans probably would have just rolled their eyes at kids not remembering L&S, but the SJ crowd latched onto it as another reason somebody, somewhere supposedly despises people who aren't pale blond types, so they could have a SJW rant about it.

And L&S fans really love Lilo & Stitch, so the tumblr posts got reblogged by people (like me) who know better (the kids today just don't remember L&S, it's not really a racist thing) because WE WANT U TO SEE THIS COOL MOVIE OK?
