People have been complaining about newbies to fandoms and fandom newbies have been complaining about the bitter Old Guard for ages.

In all seriousness, OP, I am sorry if you are getting shut down, a lot. My best suggestion is to try and focus this kind of discussion on other newbies (or even just preface them with an "I don't care if this is old, I wasn't here for it so I'm rehashing it now". Then the older fans can skip past it while newer ones can also join in. :)

OTOH, I can see someone saying "if you knew it was old, why bother posting?" So really, people just need to move on.
