But why does she have to be a foil? I think she's great as is.

I think they've just not been great enough at developing ensemble storylines. Everything kind of revolves around Peralta and/or Cpt. Holt, and the rest haven't been given enough to do yet. I'm hoping for stronger writing for the ensemble for season two.

Essentially, for most episodes of the series so far, it pretty much boils down to

- A-plot: whatever Jake is doing

- B-plot: whatever Holt is doing

- C-plot: whatever anyone else is doing

It'd be nice if they'd mix things up a bit, you know?
