well, you can check for absess/inflamation by pressing down on the tooth very hard with your finger, then quickly letting go. You'll have a sharp pain if there's an absess.
Maybe you need something to obssess about atm, and looking for a free dentist will be usefull anyway.

Nearest one to me is 2 hours away. DAMN YOU MIDWEST

I live in a big city and everything is 2 hours away at the peak hours. 1h at any other time.

btw, ^ is the method my dentist checked a tooth with an on/off pain.
