You sound like a good manager. Not everyone is so lucky to get a manager like you, but everyone with a job does have to learn how to deal with their boss. She can't control his actions, only her own.

Yeah, people do have to learn how to deal with their bosses, even when said bosses are shitty, but it's also okay for people to bitch about them. We've all had bad ones, and we'd go crazy if we couldn't talk about it.

I'm also of the mind that people need to speak up about bad bosses, because a bad boss is a company problem. Bad bosses tank morale, increase turnover, drain assets, and hinder goals, and upper management needs to know about them.
