Re: Most overdone characters
(Anonymous) 2014-07-11 04:52 am (UTC)(link)ESPECIALLY the idea that darker is better and makes for more conflict. you can get just as much (if not more) conflict out of a "light" hero striving to remain that way in a dark world. I don't think that kind of hero is boring at all!
I think it sort of ties into this idea that dark and gritty and cynical is more mature and more realistic. I disagree. I think fighting to remain optimistic and make the world a better place is far more mature than moping around.
more female characters as heroes and anti-heroes and villians and anti-villians and a million shades in-between please. just more complexity.
my absolute favourite example of a female villain is Kreia from KOTOR II. even though that game is despised, I thought she was a really interesting female villain.
