I hope Constantine is a hit. An actual canon bisexual lead who deals with the supernatural. Maybe the more aggressive DEAN IS GAY!!! IF YOU SAY HE ISN'T YOU ARE A HOMOPHOBE fans can move on to that show.

Thing is, I never understood this thought. What do they think is going to happen if Destiel were to happen? That Dean and Cas would settle down and have a perfect life? Come on. Do they watch the same show as I do? Castiel would be killed or written off the show. That's what happens to Dean's loves. He's a Winchester. Winchesters are not allowed to have healthy relationships.

If Stiles did realize he was bi on the show and had a relationship with a boy his age, these people claiming "representation!!!" would still not be happy because it's not Derek.

Wanting is one thing. Fooling yourself into thinking it will ever happen is another.

(Though I am not saying you in particular are fooling yourself, only that some fans of the pairing do.)

For some fans, sure, it's probably about bisexual representation.

But for many of them, I get the impression that it's not about queer issues. Otherwise they'd be clamoring for other media with gay/bi lead characters.

It's about using queer issues as a sort of moral justification for how canon their ship is. And that pisses me off.

I really liked the first episode, and I'm looking forward to watching more.

I hope you watch more and enjoy it - nine seasons in and I'm still a huge, huge fan, loving every episode and season. Please don't think the weird-ass wrangling and generalizations you get here at F!S is all that's out there. Some of us fans are actual, rational people who know how to enjoy canon and headcanon at the same time without becoming obnoxious.

Ah, sorry to disappoint - my comment was in reply to the one hoping Constantine would really take off.

I tried watching SPN several years back. Watched half of season one, and I guess it was okay. I was annoyed by a few things, but not enough to hate it. A few episodes were interesting, but it didn't grab me enough to keep watching.

Made another try a while ago when one of my best friends really got into it, but again, it didn't grab me. It wasn't boring to me (in fact, it has some of my favourite tropes), but I just couldn't emotionally connect to the characters - and I need that in my media. It didn't help that I didn't like Jared all that much from his time on Gilmore Girls, too.

I didn't know that! But apparently yes, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to watch it, I guess. It just showed up as available dl on my tv community, and I took it.

I want Constantine to be a hit. I want a canon bisexual lead. I love supernatural shows. But the SPN fans can stay away. Please, let them stay away. I've had enough women hating and "OMG THIS IS SO CANON!" and all of that for a lifetime. I gave up SPN/SPN fandom and I really want to like/stay with Constantine and its fandom.
