This is the main reason I've held off of Nightvale, even though it's right up my alley. 95% of the fandom seems to be talking about Carlos/Cecil, wank over how brown Carlos is, or fanart of Carlos/Cecil cuddling. It's really unfortunate when you actually get queer representation in media and the obsessive fangirls ruin it.

Your logic infuriates me. The reason people are over the moon about Carlos/Cecil is that it NEVER happens, ever. How dare you tell people not to be over the moon about it. If people's only reason for getting into WTNV is Carlos/Cecil because they're looking for any minute scrap of representation they can find, that is totally fucking fine and people have no right to try to silence them for it. Fuck's sake!

It doesn't strike me as queer representation celebration, it seems like obsessive fangirling and fetishizing. Fawning over a pairing (who gets very little attention, as far as I can tell) to the point of ignoring everything else in the source material is obnoxious.

The race wank is even worse than the sexuality/gender wank. But what annoys me the most is this: Finally, there is a gay POC in an important role without his sexuality being his defining trait - and what happens? He's not ~special~ enough, he clearly must be a transgendered, disabled gay POC! I don't even mind their headcanons, but some of them were really aggressive about it and this whole "Noooooo, not snowflakey enough" only demonstrates that they only care for how ~special~ a character is and not actually that there is any queer represenation.

it will NEVER happen. the writers just aren't going to do it, nope, sorry, it's just not that kind of show.

so i'd rather find other shows with bisexual representation. i couldn't care less about destiel becoming canon, and honestly, all these people getting so obsessed over this ONE character in this ONE show being written as a gay or bi - it just comes across as them caring more about their ship becoming canon than actual queer issues.

I am straight and I think gay and bi people deserve a character that does not go "Hey! Whoa! I'm straight!" every time the suggestion comes up that he may be gay or bi.

Also, I never expect anyone to agree with anything I headcanon.
