Thomas Blood, cashiered, from George MacDonald Fraser's Pyrates, leading me to conclude that I have a thing for nautical rogues of the passingly-honourable type. Again, it took me a while to realise Blood was based on an actual historical figure, who apparently really was that damn glib and talented (in the sense of having tried to rob the British Crown Jewels, gotten an interview with the king about it, and walked out with a reward of land. Must have been a hell of a conversation).
My taste in fictional men apparently comes right out of the swashbucklers and/or historical bodice-rippers. Ah well ;)
