But it's not bacterial or viral, it's the result of a particularly aggressive round of vocal tics. Ten years and no treatment has so much as reduced the problem. Granted, I usually don't get lasting effects, but even when I don't, it's a lot worse than it might sound to have constant uncontrollable urges to move your face, throat, or fingers in ways that are pointless at best and physically impossible at worst.
