BUT, because there might be a lot of them here, please don't just post a bare youtube link -- give the fandom, the name of the song, the artist, and maybe a brief description of what the vid's about or the name of the character(s) involved in the vid. Maybe put some info in the subject line for easier navigation!

Hopefully with this being anon, it'll be less circlejerky.

Don't get me wrong -- when it comes to really unique movies, summer/winter blockbusters, adaptations of books/plays, and independent movies, we've been getting better and better. But so-called "normal" movies -- crime movies, comedies, movies about historical events, plotty movies with original plots that focus on the story, or most especially, romances -- things were a whole lot more diverse and interesting in the past.

There only seems to be two ways to make these sort of movies nowadays -- dumb OTT Apatow-ish comedy or pretentious, dull, faux-'realistic', dreary narcissism about some boring person's life. (Even movies whose premises are technically interesting generally get forced to conform to the second type as much as possible.)

Does anyone else agree, or have I just not been seeing the right movies?

The last wanksplosion that signals the end of fs. How do you think it will go down?

There won't be one because case doesn't throw hissy fits. Nearly all comm implosions are at least 30% the fault of the mods.

Discussion about other anons is encouraged.

I thinking it will begin as something fairly innocuous, something that would not inherently cause wank upon seeing it, then someone will come up with something tangentially related to it that will cause the wank, probably something that hasn't been wanked about for a while, or is fairly uncommon. Multiple people will get too attached to the argument, and many things will be said to and from named users that can not be taken back, ending the way of F!S we know.

I think anon suffers from multiple personality disorder.

I can agree - we get boring faux 'Shock value' shit or boring Oscar bait.

I also think we're seeing less disaster movies, which is a pity.

Has anyone here screencapped, bookmarked, or otherwise saved really brilliant comments or conversations various people on F!S have posted in this comm's various threads?

i'm a big anime and manga fan and i just want to know why is it that often in anime, things are written in english? you'll see someone write their name on a pad (like in this week's jojo's bizarre adventure: stardust crusaders) and it will use regular roman spelling. even though the characters are japanese (except joseph and polnareff but they know japanese) and they're currently in pakistan. why wouldn't the names be written in kanji?

or when anime have english taglines, like this season's aldnoah zero, or anime op and ed songs that have english in them.

Tell us! And explain why they shouldn't have been canceled.

I find Ohnotheydidnt's boner for Islam and hatred for other religions to be hypocritical

I haven't watched since season 12 or so and would like to know if it's changed a lot and whether or not it's still good.

Create your own little list of fandom references that can be used in place of more specific english words or phrases. Like the language in the Star Trek TNG episode "Darmok."

If you haven't seen that episode, here are some examples so people know what I mean:

"Juliet on the balcony": romance

"Gilgamesh and Enkidu at Uruk": two people fight and then become friends

"Gretel and the stove": tricking an enemy into a trap

"The third little pig": the one smart guy among idiots

"Alice down the rabbit hole": suddenly thrown into a truly bizarre place or situation

"Not in Kansas anymore": far from home or anything familiar

A fandom example would be something like:

"The Daniel Jackson": apparently dying but then coming back/turning out not to be dead

etc.
