I like movie!Sam much more than comics!Falcon but yeah, he's actually a joke compared to the "real" superheroes. But I think that's why it works in the movie, it's like he's a normal person trying to do his best to help and that's much more awesome.

Well, he is going to be a dead normal person if he tries to go against any actual villains. Stane from Iron Man could wipe the floor with him. He'd just have to wait until he ran out of bullets and then smack him in the face.

Hawkeye is the same though. As is movie!Natacha Romanov (if I remember my comics lore, comics!Black Widows turned out to have some powers that also explained why she didn't age from the Cold War to nowadays).

And they fit just as bad into the story.

Yeah, that is why I don't get them either. I guess you can give them points for being spies/long range/ninjas. But eh.

I don't get them either to be honest.
They look shoe-horned into the story. "Look, even if you don't have super-powers you can be a super-hero!"
Yeah, except when Loki or alien destroyers show up, you're completely useless and you let Hulk and Thor do the job.

Natasha was the one who stopped the scepter thing (it's late) though. Even if you have a superhero or two it always helps to have more people on your side.

Except Hawkeye gets a pass because he's actually the comic relief - too bad they forgot that in the Avengers movie. He was my favourite Avenger back when I still read the comics so I'm really bitter about what they did to him. Especially since Renner does not seen that bad so they could have done something interesting with him. Hawkeye had powers when he was Goliath though (but we all try to forget that)
I think Natasha fits better in the movies as she's a direct link to Shield and to Fury / Coulson / Hill. But poor Hawkeye was just useless.

He did spawn the Hawkeye Initiative though, so there's that.

+1

The sad thing about it is, Renner in his interviews is more like Hawkeye than the actual MCU Hawkeye. Talk about wasted potential. (Joss Whedon, I'm looking at you.)

Joss Whedon is really good at wasting Potentials.

Natasha and Clint are regular people, too, yet everyone seems to accept them as Avengers. Tony, if you strip off the money and the suit, is also just this dude. It's always been a weird thing about that particular team, but they make it work.. And I sort of really like that, especially in relation to Cap's entourage, because it's really just regular people rising above themselves.
