I don't think it will tbh. I think they'll stick super close to the manga and people will complain about how it's just a straight adaptation, no addimg anything of its own.

It will be glorious imo. I missed the first batch of Sailor Moon wank when the first series aired on Toonami so I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this.

Also, wasn't Seiya being in love with Usagi an anime only addition? If so, I can't wait for the wank about that not being in the anime to show up. It will reignite the old shipwars and it will ne fantastic.

No, that was very much in the manga. Kiss scene and everything. The big change with the Starlights was that in the manga they're just very good crossdressers, while in the anime their civilian forms are actually male-bodied, and only switch back when they transform -- thus endless arguing about their real gender identities, and exactly how gay Seiya is.

Alright then, it has been a while since I've read the manga. I remembered that the anime changed them from being crossdressers into men while in their civilian forms in the anime though..

Those shipwars will be back in full force. Can't wait to watch them.

I read their romance in the manga as Seiya just reminding Usagi of Mamoru and Usagi of Kakyuu, but it has been a long time since I read it.

Yeah, Seiya was never a serious competitor for Usagi's heart in either version (nor was anybody else, either). It's a little more debatable how much Seiya was pursuing Usagi because she was reminiscent of Kakyuu, or for her own sake. I'm just trying to say that it's really different from something like Kunzite/Zoicite, where the romantic tension in the anime is invented from the ground up. (I don't remember if Kunzite and Zoicite even speak in the manga.)

I hadn't either. But it'll be a nice change of pace from "ZOMG CGI/CHEAP ANIMATION/NOT EMOTIVE ENOUGH!"

It's okay if you don't like it, but I just wanna hear something else for awhile, y'know? For a change of pace.

A part of me hopes they add bits of Shitennou/senshi romance into the anime just for the wank it will cause. I don't think they will though. This looks like a straight adaptation from manga to anime and Naoko just mentioned that in one of the artbooks.m

I was referring to the Shitennou/Inner Senshi romance in general though? Aside from like one or two panels, it was mostly referred to in that artbook. Oh, you're poking fun. Sorry.

That's kinda adorable. Aww, Minako... :3 I don't really ship them or anyone in this series, but I've seen some nice Kunzite/Minako fanart.

I ship Minako with people mostly because she is this wonderful mess of ideas and expectations. She's the Warrior/Goddess/Princess of Love and Beauty. And - at least as far as the manga - goes, she's completely single for the entire thing. Her closest relationship is with her cat (which I used to kind of ship a little too).

She was literally cursed in the Sailor V manga to be forever alone.

She hunts for love, but isn't desperate in the "well I'm not REALLY attracted to him/her but it's better than being single."

And she has her life as a senshi and her duty to protect her princess, and ultimately that is what's most important to her in life. But that doesn't make her desire to find love any less, well, meaningful.

And it's almost kind of terrible. Because if she ended up in an in-canon relationship, it'd negate a bit of that. But at the same time I just want her to be happy. T_T

I have a lot of Minako feelings. (Which is also funny because I went into Sailor Moon expecting to love Mars because she was red and wielded fire and all that, and I fell head over heels in love with Venus.)

There is a Japan Times article that mentions the new anime will add things that Naoko couldn't do because of editing and time restrictions so there's a possibility they might add it. And since the number of episodes is double the number of manga acts there could be some room for expansion.

Did they ever confirm just how many episodes it would be in total? Last time I heard, it was twenty six episodes.

That's what I thought. I wonder how they're going to handle it tbh. I thought they'd cover the first two arcs with these twenty six episodes. Huh, I guess they might actually pad things out and add in things so that Crystal just covers the first arc.
