Actually, irrc there are hints that they're both lying. That she did actually do something wrong [despite her claims otherwise] - but not what they claimed she did*.

*I don't remember the specifics on the hints, just that they're there. Sorry!

Honestly, so do I, but I do it more out of sheer annoyance at the quest. -shrugs-

theres evidence that saadia's story was complete bullshit, namely that she claimed she didn't know the alik'r were in town and yet knew the whiterun dungeon contained a recently captured alik'r warrior, and iirc the lore between the aldmeri dominion and the alik'r makes them staunch enemies, which is reinforced by kematu's story and makes saadia's overly suspect.

kematu explains that he wants to bring her back alive to face punishment though so i guess you have to decide if whatever they might have planned for her is justified in light of her treason (apparently you can find an urn named after her in whiterun if you complete the quest in the alik'r's favour).

plus saadia's story's inconsistencies might just be oversights on the writer's part and not indicative of anything canon
