Some people in my freshman dorm apparently didn't know how to use a microwave. Someone once caused a fire alarm because they decided to microwave noodles in a plastic bag.

lol, we had a fire alarm once because someone burned a cup of Easy Mac.

it was actually pretty amusing.

(noodles in a plastic bag, though? I'm thinking, NEVER used a microwave before... o.O)

Oh yeah. Our building had more fire alarms than all of the other buildings in the residence, I'd say. We just got people with no microwave experience and also lots of pranksters. Another time we had an alarm because a girl burned a bag of popcorn and opened the microwave door before opening the windows.

The popcorn thing makes me think of the apartment I just moved out of. After the first few times the fire alarm went off while I was using the stove, my neighbor came over to investigate and showed me how to disable it temporarily. I got into the habit of taking it down whenever I was going to make something in a frying pan. Turning on the fan didn't help - it just wafted more of the air upstairs so the upstairs alarm went off, too.

At least with an apartment complex (and not a multistory complex - I mean there were two stories, but each apartment had two floors and entrances on the main level) we didn't have to evacuate the whole building when one person's fire alarm went off. |D

An old roommate of mine once set off the alarm by burning spaghetti.

She had too much pasta, not enough water, and not a big enough pot. She set the temp up to super high, it boiled over, and the pasta charred to the sides.
