I just don't understand how someone's ego can be so fragile that they'll get upset if people aren't wasting energy writing bland, meaningless platitudes. It's akin to saying, "gee, the weather sure is nice today! It's so sunny and warm!" It's vapid. It's talking (or writing) without saying anything.
