Yep. And Neji at least had character development. Most of the brooding angsty type in Naruto are a lot more interesting than Sasuke, really. Neji, Gaara, Nagato.

I mean, Karin is an Uzumaki, there's potential there, but Kishimoto sure isn't doing anything with it. Which is weird cause I like how he writes most of his other female characters--Tsunade, Temari, Kushina, Ino (I love Ino). I even like that the god-like being in canon is a woman.

And yeah, true, I am basically done with all characters named Uchiha barring Itachi and Shisui (and we barely even see Shisui).

Yeah, Neji grew out of it. He was still a bit of a stouc, no nonsense guy, but he still loosened up. Sasuke's not had any development. He's still an angry asshole who doesn't give a shit about anybody but himself.

At this point, I'm really glad that all of my favorite characters are stuck on the sidelines and forgotten to the most part. I can only imagine how Kishimoto would ruin their characters. He can write some decent female characters, but that's the thing, most of them don't get enough screentime for him to screw them up. Ino is fantastic, not gonna lie. And I'm super glad that Madara is gone and Kaguya replaced him.

Eh, I can't say I agree on Itachi. He was okay until the reveal, but all the fellating of his character and how he was such a great ninja soured me on him. I can't say I've liked any of the Uchiha we've seen.

Also, from the start, I find the way Neji treated Rock Lee (the goofy character that declared him a rival) a lot more palatable than how Sasuke treated Naruto (the goofy character that declared *him* a rival).

Oh, who are your favorites? Now that most everybody' stuck in the infinite tsukuyomi, my favorites (Ino, Gaara and Shikamaru) are sidelined too. I do randomly like the Second and First Hokage though.

Yeah, he gets propped up pretty high, Itachi, doesn't he? It gets pretty annoying, I get it, but I give him lots of cookie points after he came back as a Tensei and tried to stop Kabuto (and snapped Sasuke out of his revenge mission).

That scene when Sasuke made his grand entrance and declaring he wants to be the Hokage though, ughh *throws stuff at his face* always the self-centered asshole. I still don't get why both the Japanese and the overseas fandom like him so much. is it because he's a bishounen-ish character?

Neji could be a bit of an ass, but he was fairly civil when it came to Rock Lee. Sure, he'd get fed up with his antics, but compared to how Sasuke treated Naruto, he was a bit more forgiving. Which explains why I ship them like burning.

My favorite are Gai, Kakashi, Lee, and Neji. There's a lot of characters I like, but those four are my favorites. I'm still not sure about my feelings on Jesus!Naruto saving Gai. On one hand, I'm glad he's alive, but he's not going to be a ninja ever again. The 8 Gates took their toll on him and I'm ot sure if Gai would be alright with that quality of life. On the other hand, I'm mad he didn't get to go out in a blaze of glory. What are your ships?

Propped pretty high is understatement. When you've got hokages proclaiming him as the greatest ninja ever, it is just ridiculous. Even Kaguya got into it. I can give him props for that, but I still can't bring myself to like him. The stain of the Uchiha just ruins everything it touches for me. A bit melodramatic, I know but Kishimoto and his Uchiha hard-on have been detrimental to the story.

There was not enough facepalm in the world when I read that. How would Sasuke being a hokage be a good idea by any stretch of the imagination? He'd fuck up the the village and peace so fucking badly. He doesn't care about anyone other than himself, so how the fuck would he fix things?

He's more of a basebreaker in the US though, but even so he is still pretty popular. It baffles me. He isn't even that much of a prettyboy imo. He is just so generic looking.

I haven't read Naruto in years but when I heard about the whole "Sasuke wanting to be hokage" thing, it made me beyond angry. I'm still kind of angry. A manga should not be able to make me so mad

Oh yeah, I feel you. My suggestion is that if he does end up being Hokage and Kishimoto ends the series without an epilogue that goes into what happened to everybody, you can always headcanon that he got assassinated by the family of somebody he killed or pissed off.

Or that Orochimaru was dormant in him and took over his body.

Haha, yeah that's probably the only way it would be bearable.

I'm still kind of hoping that he'll just give Sasuke some kind of bullshit heroic death or something. I don't think he really deserves to go out in a blaze of glory but at this point I dislike his character enough to just want him to go away.

I'm half-convinced (and dreading), that now that him and Naruto have been revealed as reincarnated brothers, that Kishimoto would make them both co-Hokages or some such bullshit.

I can just *see* it. It'll be kinda like Madara and Hashirama but this time they'll make it *work*.

I'd probably have blood coming out of my eyeballs from rage if that happens though (sorry for the goriness, I hate the dude).

It'd be really weird if I now reveal that I'm a SasuNaru shipper, right? Cause I kind of am :PP At least, there are some very talented people that draw that ship very beautifully and I like that, I guess.

I used to be pretty into Sasunaru so no judgement from me! My interest in it has drastically waned due to some of the aforementioned manga plotines though and the unsavory turns Sasuke's characterization has taken (Years ago, I sincerely believed that Naruto would eventually just drag back Sasuke and he would redeem himself, stop being a dick and become the best friend that Naruto deserved. I, um, was not correct).

I don't think he's going to die, unforunately. We're stuck with him and so are those poor souks who will live under his co-hokage rule.

I ship Naruto with everybody, though not Sakura because I think by now he puts her in too high of a pedestal and she's spent too long hung up on another guy, I can't see them be paired off convincingly. (as such, I ship Neji/Naru too, though not as much as I ship Gaara/Naru. Like, hey Naruto? Here's a brooding stoic-type who actually cares for you, let's stop fixating so much on the one that don't, shall we? Isn't practically traditions for kyuubi's junchuuriki to marry Kages? Got a great candidate right here *might be only half joking*)

I thought Shikamaru's (and most of his ex-schoolmates') incredulous reactions to Sasuke's declaration were apt, just that it needed to be cranked up a bit. And you're right, the villagers won't trust him (with good reason) and he never has the track record of putting others' needs before his own. He'll make a horrible Hokage, worse than if they were to have choosen Madara over Hashirama, I would think.

I went through a NaruSaku phase, but I can't ship say I ship them now. I don't really ship Naruto with anybody to be honest. I ship him with Lee, but Lee's one of my bicycles and I ship him with damn near everybody so that isn't saying much. My OTPs are KakaGai and NejiLee. I used to ship Gaara/Lee, but now, not so much. I guess I fell out of love with it or got burnt out.

Agreed so hard! He should have got to go out with a blaze of glory, taking Madara down. As much as I love Neji, I wasn't that annoyed with his death. It was disappointing for sure but I half-expect him to be brought back to life or something.

I wouldn't be surprised if the villagers forgive him and welcome him with open arms, you know, for saving them from Kaguya. I hope that Shikamaru and the rest of them won't be so forgiving but I'm not holding my breath. Sasuke himself isn't even a good leader! He's stubborn, refuses to listen to the advice others give him and just charges headfirst into shit. Like that whole shit with him rushing after Danzo.

Even if he does grow up, he will still be inedibly biased toward the Uchiha clan and rebuilding it as its reputation. Sure, there's always a bit of bias, but he will be so focused on Uchiha shit he won't even care about the needs of the other people. You want yhe fragile peace to be ruined? Make Sasuke the hokage and see how long it lasts before it bites you in the ass.

If that happens though, they deserves all the hardships an Uchiha-as-a-Hokage will bring (and it will bring hardships). The unfortunate part is Naruto doesn't deserve having his dream trampled over like that.

I don't think they'd deserve all the hardships that his rule would bring though. I don't think anyone would deserve that. Village uprising, anyone? And poor Naruto, he'd have to clean up the messes that Sasuke would cause. Sure, he was always a bit starry-eyed and idealistic about being hokage, but he doesn't derserve to clean up after Sasuke's ass.

Lol, that was pretty much the first ship I jumped to when I gave up on Sasunaru. Gaara is so great! And Naruto pretty much taught him the meaning of friendship/love, which is a lesson Sasuke probably should have absorbed a little better

Ugh Gaara thought the world of Naruto, called him his first ~~love~~ true friend, and led an army of joint shinobi forces vowing to protect him. He's the amazing-est in my book :))

I jumped ship to this one after giving up on SasuNaru too :3 Like you, I thought Naruto would one day be able to drag Sasuke home and he'll start growing as a person, but then he became even more terrible that by now I don't think he deserves Naruto's devotion and Sakura's pining over him.

nayrt, but drive-by Naruto/Gaara love! I wish that ship was more popular; Naruto is so important to Gaara that it's sometimes hard NOT to see their interaction as being a little more than friendly.
