(Anonymous) 2014-07-15 09:30 am (UTC)(link)I only found out Don Quixote was so old recently (over 400 years old, about the same time as Shakespeare's plays). Most ancient literature was stuffed with characters who were transparent power fantasies. That time seemed to specialize in pricking that fantasy.
