Re: Souvenirs from London?

What an above comment said. If you have an interest in anything historical that's related to England, now's your chance. I slightly regret not getting coasters with Henry VIII and all his wives from the Westminster Abbey giftshop. Tacky yes, but... I would totally have used them every day. Same goes for artwork, incidentally. If your dad's going to be visit any museums, ask him to stop in the gift shop, they're often a good place to check.

Are postcards too obvious? British edition of books, like for example, Harry Potter?

I love love love the idea of the historical souvenirs. I'll definitely ask about them, although I don't know if he'll end up at any museums.

As for Harry Potter, I so want him to bring back Deathly Hallows so that my British HP collection is complete, but my mother made me promise not to ask as she seems to think the book's too expensive there (and probably she thinks Papa will be embarrassed.) So I'll have to get it on ebay.

Well there are three different British Harry Potter covers for each of the books. They really weren't that expensive (two of them come in paperback only)

It's my understanding that books are actually quite reasonably priced in the UK and they often have sales so... it might not necessarily be expensive. Less so if you're willing to have a used copy and your dad's willing to poke around a secondhand bookshop. FWIW, on Amazon.co.uk, the anniversary edition of that book is £6.29 for the paperback.
