Fandom tattoo appreciation thread

Or none fandom if you like.
Post 'em if you got 'em. Hell, post 'em if you want 'em.

There's a song that I enjoy that has the lines "I've got a one way ticket to destiny/a one way road to my future". At some point, I think I'd like to get an old fashioned "one way" ticket with "destiny" as the destination done in an old school style with roses behind it on my foot.

I always really liked that the Fellowship actors all got the Elvish to spell out "nine".

Does that count as a fandom tattoo or fall under 'other' would you say? They went to New Zealand, spent three years there living in each other's pockets, having amazing experiences together. Seems to me it's only geeky by association, as the elvish symbol for nine was the perfect symbol to commemorate an amazing period in their lives.

It was damn cool, I agree. Watching the diaries from the making of LOTR makes me sick with envy for the amazing time they had there.

I'm planning on getting a bee (like an overhead outline-y diagram style drawing) on my forearm in honor of Sherlock Holmes, and a Jinouga (or Zinogre depending on which romanization you run with) from Monster Hunter scaling my thigh and decorated with tiger lillies. Possibly also the crest of Malkuth from Tales of the Abyss.

The thing about fandom tattoos, for me, isn't that I'm thinking "this show/game is awesome i'm gonna immortalize it on my body!!", it's that through these fandoms I've met people/did things that changed the course of my life. Of course I'd love to immortalize that-- even in the fandoms I'm no longer a part of.

I have the rebel alliance symbol on my back. It was my 30th birthday present to myself.

I'm absolutely in love with this ASoIaF/GoT tattoo:

And though I'd never get one since I'm never in black lights enough for it to make sense, I've been fascinated by the idea of UV light tattoos. There's a matrix one about ten down that's particularly cool, and all the floral patterns look good glowing.

Love the Matrix one, too!

I want this guy's arm tattoos : http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140330045709/fairytail/pt-br/images/2/25/Trafalgar_law_by_missjasonvoorhees-d59sa15.png

minus the design in the center, since my arms are too thin. It's just an idea, though, and since they'd be on my arms, I don't know how good an idea it'd be. I'm not even sure if I'd like to commit to a tattoo at all. Maybe get hena ones for the lulz at some point.

I don't have access to pictures, but while I was still in the Final Fantasy fandom I saw someone's tattoo of Vincent Valentine based on the art that came out for Dirge of Cerberus. It was a huge tattoo, with Vincent's cloak billowing out in epic tattered style. It looked amazing.

I heard that there's glow-in-the-dark ink that's almost invisible in the normal light. I think in theory, the Mark of the Outsider from Dishonored done in that ink would be on of the most awesome fandom tattoos I could think of. I also heard that this ink is just about the most unhealthy thing you can do in terms of tattoo ink, so... eh.

There is a Sci-Fi book series I love where the crew of a spaceship has their ship's symbol on the inside of their lower arms/wrist. That would be really cool as well.

I think vague symbols are the best kind of fandom tattoo- things that only people familiar with the fandom would recognise. More obvious things (like a Tardis, a Dalek or something like that)... meh. Can be cute if done well, but too "inyour face" for my tastes. I'm not a fan of character/face/people tattoos, they are a little too much and often too tacky for me.

Late getting here because GMT, but I think this is one of the better fandom tattoos I've seen. I think wing tattoos on the back are so mainstream they have less of the tattoo stigma associated with them, and this one is fandom-unique (and meaningful) without pushing the envelope too far.
