I heard that there's glow-in-the-dark ink that's almost invisible in the normal light. I think in theory, the Mark of the Outsider from Dishonored done in that ink would be on of the most awesome fandom tattoos I could think of. I also heard that this ink is just about the most unhealthy thing you can do in terms of tattoo ink, so... eh.

There is a Sci-Fi book series I love where the crew of a spaceship has their ship's symbol on the inside of their lower arms/wrist. That would be really cool as well.

I think vague symbols are the best kind of fandom tattoo- things that only people familiar with the fandom would recognise. More obvious things (like a Tardis, a Dalek or something like that)... meh. Can be cute if done well, but too "inyour face" for my tastes. I'm not a fan of character/face/people tattoos, they are a little too much and often too tacky for me.
