You overrate HBC and underrate Tim Burton as a director. Even if he's made some crap films now the good ones that he made alone make him a better talent.

I think Tim Burton gets too much credit, especially for stuff like Nightmare. A lot of what made that movie great was Henry Selick and his team-not Tim Burton-yet he gets so much praise for it.

I like Nightmare, but it's very clear that it's not really a Tim Burton film, as it were. Ed Wood, 1983 Frankenweenie, and Edward Scissorhands are much more Tim Burton. I like all of these more than I like Nightmare.

I always felt it was the other way around. Helena Bohem Carter is a pleasure to watch in almost all roles, while Tim Burton's movies are just growing more and more stiff and predictable. Might be because he forces Johnny Depp into most of them, not doing the movie any favours.
