I can see being angry at the cheating rumors, but what exactly does HBC's talent have to do with it? That's like the pseudo-intellectual version of "She's too pretty for him to cheat on!!1!"

I dunno. "She wasted the best years of her life on him, and now he's cheating on her!" is actually a pretty common complaint when adultery comes up in real life. I imagine the talent portion is just the acting version of that.

I thought of it as more like 'she wasted her talent on him - the least he could do is be faithful'

Came here to say this, pretty much. What does either of their ability have to do with cheating? Hypothetically speaking, wouldn't it be just as mean for him to cheat on her if they were both as talented as a bag of rocks? Maybe it's just that I don't give hardly a crap about celebrities, but I'm not seeing the connection.

Which has been exactly my reaction when such things happened to my friends, so I kind of sympathize.

...Helena Bonham Carter's initials always make me think people are referring to her as a "hardcore bitch in control." lol

You overrate HBC and underrate Tim Burton as a director. Even if he's made some crap films now the good ones that he made alone make him a better talent.

I think Tim Burton gets too much credit, especially for stuff like Nightmare. A lot of what made that movie great was Henry Selick and his team-not Tim Burton-yet he gets so much praise for it.

I always felt it was the other way around. Helena Bohem Carter is a pleasure to watch in almost all roles, while Tim Burton's movies are just growing more and more stiff and predictable. Might be because he forces Johnny Depp into most of them, not doing the movie any favours.

I agree that celebrity rumors are nasty, especially if untrue...but, your reasons are sort of weird. I don't think ability to cheat is somehow related to talent or fame. IF he's cheating, then she certainly would not be the first talented person that was cheated on.

Also, I disagree with the notion that Burton's not talented

Didn't Kenneth Brannagh cheat on Emma Thompson with her? Not that that would make it okay for Tim Burton to cheat at all.

Yeah, Ken cheated on Emma with Helena on the set of Frankenstein. And possibly with Alicia Silverstone on Loves Labour's Lost as well.

This is like one of those 'what goes around, comes around' things where I still feel bad if she's being cheated on, but like...eh.

They're not married.

They're pretty much common-law married. I feel bad for their kids.

I'm not really sure that cheating on one's life partner (with whom one has children) is a-okay simply because it's not "official".

So what? If their not married, it's not cheating? Yeah, no, it's still cheating, whether there's a legal document saying their married or not.

Who is he supposedly cheating her with? It's Johnny Depp, isn't it?

Ha! It's an OLD story from last spring - there were allegedly photos of him kissing some mysterious blonde woman. HBC told the paparazzi where they could stick said photos.

I find Helena Bonham Carter as an actress to be average at best, mediocre at worst. She only ever seems to play the same character in everything I've seen her in. Granted, I could be wrong - I'm not the most avid follower of her work, mostly because I find her so mediocre and samey...
I also find Tim Burton overrated. *shrug* I'm just not a fan of them or the kind of films they tend to make.

As for everyone asking what their respective talent has to do with cheating - I got the sense that the person who made the secret feels like Tim Burton held HBC back with all his crummy movies and she could have done much better on her own, and it's extremely unfair of him to cheat on her after he "ruined her resume".

Have you seen her in "The King's Speech"? Because, while I agree to an extent that she does tend to play a certain type of character, I feel like she tends to play a certain type of character when she's acting with Johnny Depp and/or being directed by Tim Burton.

Away from them, and she's like a totally different person.
