I might be one of the few, but I loved him in Fargo. Even if the role wasn't the polar opposite of the sort of character he typically plays, he was still perfect for that role and really impressed me with his acting.

I do wish he would choose a more varied role next time, but I suppose he only has so much control over that (maybe he isn't offered much else? Which may or may not say something about his range). *shrugs*

He may or may not be a great actor in a general sense -- I do agree that he tends to play a limited range, and the actors I consider truly great can play all sorts of characters -- but I DO think he was great in this role.
