Pet Peeves

(Anonymous) 2014-07-18 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm beginning to get really annoyed at one of my acquaintances on Facebook. Lately all she's been posting are really passive aggressive updates with a vague description of what the hell it might be about or who her anger is aimed at. It's just gotten to the point where I wish I could yell, "SHUT UP!"

Anyway, thanks to her I figured out that's one of my major pet peeves. People who post really vague, passive aggressive statuses on Facebook.

To jump on that: I hate people who argue on my wall. Like, WTF, could you not?

Re: Pet Peeves

(Anonymous) 2014-07-18 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
That is seriously awkward. Especially since you keep on getting notices from these people when you'd rather not.

I have this one friend in particular who is guilty of this.

I used to be part of a little group on FB - we'd all argue all the time. Our little Debate Crew, we called ourselves. Well, I got tired of it, so did everyone else, but there's this ONE DUDE who is constantly posting stuff on my wall and tagging other people.

It's like GO DO THAT ON YOUR OWN WALL.

My new pet peeve is my TMI FB friend. She just posted about how she hooked up with some hot guy last night, had sex four times, and ran out of condoms. LOL. Seriously? No one needs to know that much about your life, honey.

Actually, I find TMI friends hilarious. They're my fav sort of FB friend. I'm such a child.

I actually think vaguebooking is like crying wolf too. I've rolled my eyes before and scrolled on, only to later find out no, something actually bad happened. But with so many posts on my feed being along the same lines, except the bad thing was something the person would've forgotten about twenty minutes later if they hadn't posted about it on FB, I no longer know when someone actually needs hugs and support and when they're trying to get it over nothing. Sometimes literally.

And I had a friend who once posted a nasty status about me on FB. Over a simple misunderstanding, which she knew perfectly well.

Those are the worst. And it's even more stupid when people who don't know anything about the situation give them asspats likes for their nasty status.

i think you can just hide her from your feed and she'll never know

I wish I could, but sometimes she posts informative posts so I like to read those occasionally. But lately she's flooded her statuses with crap that not even Sherlock Holmes could discern what the bullshit is about or who it's aimed at.

People who post song lyrics on FB. When people sing under their breath. People who listen to like the first minute of a song before changing it. YOU LISTENED TO THAT MUCH, FINISH THE DAMN THING.

You wouldn't like me at work. I sing quietly/under my breath while doing the floors because I'm utterly bored, but don't want to annoy people by singing out loud if I'm in the same room.

I have also posted lyrics statuses before, but it's not something I do very often. They don't bug me either but maybe they would if people started doing it all the time? idk

People who think it's OK to just swipe my glasses off my face and try them on because we're friends. STAAAAP.

I hate it when people do this on Tumblr too. Vagueblogging is fucking irritating.

I have someone who does that on my FB, they don't post that often though so it's easy for me to ignore them.

I think my biggest pet peeve on FB at least is when people say 'But I put it on FB why weren't you there?' when it comes to events. Like really, I don't live on facebook, if you want me to come out for drinks or hang out with you tell me yourself. I've got a phone ffs, a call or a text will suffice.

Anyone living in a building with other people who thinks it is okay to be really loud after say 10 or 11. Also people who play their stereos loudly. If you want your music that loud, use headphones.

Oh god, it took months for those idiots above me to STOP VACUUMING AT STUPID HOURS OF THE NIGHT.

I swear at least one of the occupants is home every hour of the day. There is no excuse for this. Fortunately, it didn't happen on a regular basis.

I finally reported them when they decided it was fine to let their dog scream and cry and carry on like a banshee at 5 in the morning on a work day.

Here's another Facebook pet peeve - tagging people in photos when the photo is horribly unattractive. I untagged myself from a photo recently where I looked like a trashy drunk mess. A few minutes ago, ta-da, this person retagged me. Like, you didn't get the hint the first time? :-/

My roommate has a really clacky keyboard. I can usually tell whether she's home or not just by listening for the keyboard since I can hear it through her bedroom walls.

Re: Pet Peeves

(Anonymous) 2014-07-18 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I hate those too. It's even worse when they start stringing people along to it. When others see it, they always ask, "What's going on? Is everything ok?" and they always respond with, "Just tired of _____" or "I don't want to talk about it."

When I get angry and I want to vent I post it on Twitter because I have the account set on private so only my followers see me bitching, and I'm sure my followers (which I only have like ten) don't even see it or care that I'm writing things like, "I FUCKING HATE MY BOSS!"

I hate it when people have zero consideration for anyone else. Usually on the road.

On the topic of posting about one's own drama, I can't stand it when people talk about their lives all defeatist, ignore everyone else's attempts to cheer them up or make suggestions on how to make their situation less shitty, declare that there's nothing that can be done to fix their horrible lives, and then they don't get a desired reaction, they go "SEE NOBODY CARES ABOUT ME WHY DOESN'T ANYONE CARE ABOUT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE." It's so emotionally manipulative and irresponsible.
