Cute girls or women who can't cook. It seems almost every female character in a manga or anime can't cook, and a big deal is made out of it for lulz. Recall the repeated exploding kitchen in Outlaw Star, and Akane's lack of ability to even boil water, Usagi's failed attempt at curry, Riko from Kuroko who can't even slice lemons to soak them in honey, and a hundred other examples.

It's so overdone. I'm so tired of it.

What? Melfina could cook though. Aisha could too iirc, but her dishes were made for human consumption. Just for Ctarl Carl. I don't remember any exploding kitchens in Outlaw Star.

I knew I should have included the disclaimer that yes, there are anime women who can cook. Makoto in Sailor Moon, Megumi in Kenshin, and so on.

It seems to me the ones who can't (and LULZ isn't that funny!11 /sarcasm) far outnumber the ones who can. Thus my extreme dislike of the cliche.

My apologies about the exploding kitchen being in Outlaw Star. I know it's from a space-going anime. Perhaps it was Lost Universe. I do remember it's from a shounen series, and one I only watched once.

Oh no, I totally get you on hating the cliche and what you meant. It was just a bit of a surprise that you mentioned Outlaw Star because I don't remember that happening in it.
