Re: Common tropes/cliches you hate
Me, well, I'm sick of fridging to the point where I just won't read or watch it anymore. Some dude's barely developed wife/daughter/girlfriend/some variety of female is killed off purely for the purpose of motivating angst? Thanks but no thanks, I'm putting it down/turning it off. Case in point: immediate cancellation of my Watch_Dogs preorder the second I found out what the protagonist's backstory was going to be. I know I'm not the world's arbiter of taste or good writing, and feel free not to give a fuck what I think, but if you put that in your shit you will never see a red cent from me, and I've encouraged - and continue to encourage - anyone who's as sick of the trope as I am to do the same. I think we could give this trope a rest for a few decades, if not more.
I mentioned the whole grizzled 30-something white male asskicker with manpain as protagonist last time, but I'd be pretty much okay with that disappearing for the rest of my life, too.
