That the only settings for romantic comedy these days seem to be:

a.) goofy laid-back guy teaches uptight career-oriented girl to relax a bit

b.) introverted guy is taught to open up more by quirky MPDG.

and one or the other has some kind of disposable love-interest to get rid of in favor of the protagonist. Also, "hilarious" over-complicated misunderstandings. Yawn.

I hate over-complicated misunderstandings. It drives me crazy when most of the conflict in a plot could have been avoided if the characters had only communicated with each other.

I specifically hate it when a character is overhearing a conversation, and only listens to half of it before bolting out, missing the second half that exonerates the speaker.
