I won't mention names/fandoms, but I will say the reason I can't stand "the other pairing(s)" is partly because of something in canon making it clear that the other pairing is not happening (such as, when they miss the point of a canon friendship or parent/child type relationship). Or if people treat "the other pairing" like it's already canon.

Of course, I won't go around telling people they're wrong for liking what they like. I just personally don't care for what they like.
