Wow. Bunch of rape apologists in this thread.

Obviously people have issues with seeing consent properly represented. There are way too many sex scenes in fiction that are supposed to be consensual but are actually rape (GoT is notorious for this). I think "too consensual" is a good complaint to receive. It means your character's intentions are clear and consent is present and accounted for. A character should say yes in someway every time you are writing consensual sex.

How the fuck is it rape apology to suggest that a porn fic that reads like an after-school special about consent would be annoying?

Good gosh go back to tumblr

Well, rape culture being what it is, I'd much rather see proper and explicit consent rather than consent that seems wishy-washy. Just because it's porn doesn't mean a writer should not have a duty to their readers to illustrate the correct way to give and get consent.

But not all characters would do that, though. There are plenty of characters for whom it would be OOC to behave like that.

If it's OOC to write consesual sex then you should label the fic dub or non con.

Re: That's... generally a GOOD thing

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's not dub or non con just because characters don't stop and explicitly ask for consent.

Serious question: are you making an effort to misunderstand what people are saying in this thread, or is this really how you view the world?

2/10 too much righteous fury and not enough referencing what people have actually said in this thread

I did reference what people said in this thread. They don't agree explicit consent is porn is important. I do. I think you are the one with the reading comprehension issues.

lmao I love to imagine what people like you would be like if you ever actually managed to have sex.

"are you sure?" "yes" "*thrust* still sure?" "yes" "*thrust* still okay?" "yes" "*thrust* we good?" "yes" "*thrust* ..." "............HOW FUCKING DARE YOU THIS IS OFFICIALLY RAPE YOU SCUM"

Ayrt

I do have sex. I have casual sex often. My partners and I always make sure to consent to sex before initiating intercourse. It's not a difficult concept to understand.

Re: Ayrt

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
My partner and I literally never, ever have the "consent" discussion. I mean never. It's always given through actions. Going by your standards, we've been raping each other for ten years.

We've even drunk-fucked, gasp!

Re: Ayrt

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Same here. We know we don't need to ask because the other person will always say no when they AREN'T feeling it.

Well, I can tell someone here hasn't had sex IRL.
