I'm against it too, for pretty much the same reasons.

And then there's also the whole Inara gets raped by reavers subplot Whedon had planned. NO KTHXBAI.

I'm not sure which one would be worse. At least the beavers wouldn't eat you after and wear your skin. Not necessarily in that order.

Inara's unfinished storyline with the reavers and the dying is one of the largest reasons I would never want the show to return. Leaving things as is has got to be better than some of the plans Whedon had for the future of the show.

(IMO it would be too jarring now with so much time past anyway.)

Meh, I'm not massively offended about the idea that Inara gets raped by reavers. I wanted to learn more about the reavers and have the main cast affected more personally by them. Reavers were introduced as being brutal, and in the first episode it was pretty much stated that they rape their victims. I think it'd would've been an interesting plot line. And considering Inara's trade is sex, I think out of all the crew members she would've been the strongest to deal with it and most prepared.

(and I don't really see how having a rape plot makes Joss not-feminist. There's nothing wrong with rape plots, as long as they're done with respect and not in a sexy way)

Eh, I think was the way he brought it up. Like it would be less of Inara's personal struggle/conflict/recovery, and more of another cockblocking mechanism for the Inara/Mal ship. How would this rape affect him and all that.

Finding out about this plan was, for me, the final nail in the coffin for the series. Nope, that syringe was something to kill her in case Reavers got on the ship and that's that and is something that makes sense.
