If you have, how is it? What do you like? What do you hate? What are your favorite fics? Least favorite? What are the biggest wank topics you've run across so far? How strong is the fandom going at the moment? Spill!

I briefly was interested in Justified, but now I'm back to Babylon 5, Voyager, and The A-Team. Babylon 5 is decently active. I only talk Voyager with my friend, though it's Star Trek so there's something of a fandom. The A-Team has like no fandom so I just talk about it with my fiance.

I'm gonna be hunting for UFO fic soon. also just finished Timelash and trying to face the last 10 minutes of AQOP so i can watch CCA-OK, Sub-Smash and Mindbender.

I'm recently getting into the Mass Effect fandom, but since I've only played/watched LPs of the first two games of the trilogy, I haven't really been able to get into fanworks and things because I don't want to get spoiled for the last game.

I've dived into the Dresden Files fandom. I'd read a fic here or there before now, but in the past few days I've been reading through the first kink meme. It's been enjoyable, and so far all of the fic is readable. A few have impressed me enough to be added to my recs list!

But I am becoming burned out on the main pairing of Dresden/Marcone. It's EVERYWHERE. I've started skipping kink meme fills that are just straight-forward D/M, because I can only read the same basic fic so many times.

Faves so far:
Not His Wizard by seizethefire. Marcone happens upon Morgan trying to kill Harry yet again, learns Morgan has been trying so since Harry was 16, and Marcone's child-protective nature comes forth. Pre-slash.

Wager by neveralarch. University/Academic!AU. Harry is a religious studies prof, Marcone a philosophy prof, and much academic ~~foreplay~~ debates are had. Slash.

Dresden Files Kinkmeme Fills by LuciaZephyr. I've only read the first two chapters so far. Chapter One: Harry learns he's gained a following in Toot and the other unaligned fae. Gen. Chapter Two: chat room logs for #OccultChicago, where Harry is frequently the one being discussed. Gen.

If anyone has any Dresden recs to share with me, I'd be grateful. Particularly if they aren't Dresden/Marcone, or if they are, they do something different with it. C:

Actually most of the fics for the book!verse are easy to find. There's AO3, kinkmemes and a few on LJ. And I think that's it. Mostly shipping ones, tho pairings vary.

I like all the fics you recced and I have read them all which probably shows that this fandom is not that big.

To be fair, it's really the Harry/Marcone PWP that I'm bored with. If they give the ship some background and depth, then I'm along for the ride. But when it's "Hello, Mr. Dresden." "Hey, Marcone." *straight to porn* I scroll on down. :P

I know Dresden Files was included in Yuletide until a couple years ago, when I guess it was finally deemed too big, but then last year it was back in, I think. Anyway, yes to the fandom being small! Glad you also like the fics I recced above. We have similar tastes. C:

The trouble with small fandoms for me is that there's just not enough staff to get excited about. I wish the new books give some new ideas for fandom. Dresden is awesome character!

I'm actually behind on my Dresden Files canon. I've read through Ghost Story, but only once. And now I'm TWO new volumes behind! It's been so long, I'm rereading all the previous volumes to review. I just finished vol5: Blood Rites. I'm kinda wary of continuing the kink meme, for fear of spoilers.

Oh, speaking of spoilers, if any of your Dresden recs are set after Ghost Story, please warn me! I try to avoid spoilers as much as I can.

Will do! I'm not at home where my PC and bookmarks are, but here's a little fic which I remember liking and is relevant to the weather atm. It's a part of the series, but I think it was written before Ghost Story. In this part there are no spoilers however.

I wish I could discuss the books but I've read them so long ago, I hardly remember any detailes. =/ Huh, I looked it up and it appears that I didn't read anything newer than Small Favo. I learned the plots of other books through fandom osmosis. =D

Hmm, kinkmeme was good about Turn Coat spoilers, I think it was during the 4th round, or the 5th? I'm sure it was on Dreameidth. There was a separate entry for fics set in it for some time.

I dipped my toe into Hemlock Grove fandom (suppose you'd call it fandom, anyway) after marathoning the show, and it's alright. Most people seem to think the show is awful but end up enjoying it regardless (which is exactly the case with me), so at least I'm not alone in that opinion. There's not much fic, but I have found a couple of things I liked. (Both Peter/Roman, btw.) This one contains spoilers for the season one finale, this one for season two (episode...seven, I think?).

Oh, and In the Flesh, which I've mentioned like a billion times in the last couple weeks. Haven't seen any wank though, and it seems to be one of the most pleasant fandoms I've ever stepped foot in. Maybe I've just missed all of it because I'm mostly just looking through the tags on tumblr and reading the occasional fanfic, but everyone seems great. (For such a small fandom there's a decent amount of art! Beautiful stuff, too.) Here's a fic that deals with the 'undead people can't have sex in the traditional way' thing, and here's one focused on Simon's POV of his relationship with Kieren. (Set before the finale, too.)

I could link fanvids for both but guess I'll save that for the next fanvid rec thread.

I want to read some Orange Is the New Black fic, but I'll hold off until I catch up. Hopefully there's plenty to be found?

I blame school for this (I'm taking a class on Tolkien), but I have been all over Lord of the Rings this past week or so. For the most part, I've just been obsessively reading Legolas/Gimli (or Legolas & Gimli friendship) fic, though I don't know that I can choose a favorite just right now.

http://archiveofourown.org/works/61169 is def one of my favorites. There are a couple other similarly amazing fics, but now I'm having difficulty finding them. (Seems like since The Hobbit's release Legolas/Gimli has been a side-pairing in a lot of fic, so it's making finding the stuff I want harder. Arg.)

Legolas/Gimli was one of my first slash pairings! I love their relationship, shippy or platonic. (Though I do prefer shippy, because...well, I'm just a shipper at heart.)

And I envy your Tolkien class.

I've read that one! I've read quite a few good ones, actually, though I'd need to dig through my bookmarks to find them. I have a tendency to make myself personal rec lists (so I can find the fic I love more easily), but I haven't gotten around to doing that for Lord of the Rings yet.

I agree completely! Their friendship has always made me a little bit giddy, even before this current reread of the books made me really fall in love with the world and story in a way that I hadn't been before. They just have the best relationship, regardless of whether it's romantic or platonic. ♥

I pretty much spend that whole class in a fangirly haze, haha. The only downside is that a surprising number of people taking it seem to dislike either Tolkien or fantasy, and hearing them complain about it before class annoys me.

Personal rec lists are smart! I usually save my favorites in a folder but it's been so long since I've read some of the Lord of the Rings fic that if I did do that, I have no idea where they would be. Or if I even still have them.

Yeaaaa, them overcoming their prejudices and forming that unbreakable bond (Legolas taking Gimli to the undying lands will never not break me) made them one of my favorite LOTR relationships. They're very near and dear to me.

Haha, I can imagine! Though it sort of baffles me why people who dislike Tolkien or fantasy would take that class. I'm sure there's a variety of interesting subjects to choose from, so why not go with something you actually enjoy? Ah well.
