So do you think woman should have to change to be found acceptable by society or not?

And if they shouldn't, why should she?

If they should, then even if she weren't a mutant she wouldn't be acceptable unless she starved, plucked, went under the knife ... so it doesn't really matter. You're essentially saying that you can't empathize with the blue girl because we are essentially all blue girls.

I didn't say she should. I said I'd trade with her and then she could walk around and really look like a mutant 24/7 while I got to look hot and get taken seriously.

NAYRT--being beautiful does not equate to being taken seriously. I'm betting I could at least come second if not win the crown in the ugly sweepstakes you're determined to compete in, and I still know that while beauty earns some people's admiration, it rarely earns respect, and often earns envy and resentment, from people who want to be as beautiful, who are mad that beautiful people won't fuck them, or both. I'd settle for my more unsettling features being upgraded to average, so I wouldn't be the target of a bunch of bitter people who were always angry at the winners of the genetic lottery, waiting for me to develop wrinkles or grey hair. If I switched bodies with Jennifer Lawrence for a day, I'd be more tempted by use of her bank account than anything else. And maybe possibly cosplay, just because accuracy fuck yeah.

Sadly true. I myself am quite good-looking (though not really modest, oh well... ) and I suspect that sometimes I benefit from it, but I despise truly beautiful people, who too often are so entitled they can't believe it when people don't fall at their feet simply because they are so attractive. I certainly have never respected someone because they are beautiful, men or women.

So to the OP, I can understand wanting to look beautiful or even simply average, but good looking people do NOT get taken more seriously. They sometimes have it easier, but they don't get more respect, they get more attention. Is that a good thing? Really? Think about it for a minute.

In fact, professionally it is often a drawback to be beautiful. It depends on your job and which industry you are in, but in technology, trust me, being an attractive woman is NOT an asset as too any people think you got there by sleeping your way to the top and consistently assume that the ugliest person in the room is the most technically competent - that's Hollywood cliches for you.

Also, FYI, beauty has absolutely nothing to do with makeup or high heels: self-confidence can overcome a lot if not all physical disadvantages. While it's true men tend to judge beauty at a very shallow level, strictly based on physical appearance, most women tend to be a lot more open-minded when judging beauty and personality often trumps physical disadvantages.

As a side note, I am always surprised by how American women think one has to be blonde, tanned, heavily made up with long curly hair etc. I grew up in Europe where most women have short hair, do not shave their legs or armpits and guess what? We somehow and are rarely judged to be ugly, most American think European and better looking and more elegant or whatnot even though of course the range between ugly and beautiful is exactly the same across all continents and countries.

Though it is true that by standing up straight, shoulders back, belly in and chin up, your figure will look a hundred times better without losing a single pound. This is not a coincidence, IMO.
