Kids these days.

Depending on the amusement park and the area, it's not that unusual. I worked at my local amusement park a couple summers ago, and seeing unattended preteens/early teens was pretty common. There's security everywhere in most parks, and ride and shop attendants are trained to keep an eye out for skeevy people, so the biggest risk facing most kids is hurling on a ride after they stuff their faces with too much junk food.
