Sherlock (Sherlock) annoyed me.
Katniss irritated me for some reason. In the first book she was fine, but after that...
I don't hate Legolas, but he's overrated. I always liked Pippin better.
Nightfall (Elfquest) is also irritating.

I'm curious about Nightfall. Can you explain, or is it just a feeling you can't pin down?
(I've always found Moonshade way more irritating, personally.)

I think part is just how much love Nightfall gets from the creators. She understands her lifemate perfectly, she's an expert warrior, she's always so wise, she's Cutter's second-best friend and his second most loyal supporter. She's so perfect. Ugh.

Moonshade has problems and doubts and is occasionally wrong about things.

I hate Sherlock in all incarnations, it's kind of an inside joke in my family. He's such an insufferable better-than-you know-it-all and I can't wrap my head around why people would want to be exposed to that kind of attitude.

Some incarnations are better than others. Or at least more interesting.

I can't stand Sherlock either. Or John. I love Holmes and Watson and I hate what was done with them in BBC's Sherlock.

John at least pretends to be loveable. There is nothing loveable about Sherlock.

Seconding Katniss.

I couldn't relate to her and her narration left a lot to be desired as far as creating an engaging story goes.

I never read beyond the first one because I cared so little for her and for the series in general. I enjoy the movies though.

You didn't miss anything. The first was the best.

Pippin was more fun and he grew as a character.

Nailed it.

Katniss didn't really start to get on my nerves until the last book, but there was a point in Mockingjay where she started to just kind of be...all over the place, like I couldn't even tell what her character was doing anymore, and by the end she pissed me off.

I disliked Katniss in the first book but really liked her in the second (haven't read the third). The characterization was just so hamfisted.
