Re: Fandom favorites you hate

Bela Talbot. Yes, she was a strong, independent, smart, tough, funny survivor of child sexual abuse. This does not make her a good role model or some sort of awesome feminist icon who is worthy of admiration or praise. It just means she was a really horrible person who happened to also be talented and moderately interesting.

Bela used her talents and skills solely for her own profit, at the expense of anybody who had the bad luck to cross her path. She deliberately avoided making any personal connections with anyone else--if she ever genuinely cared about another person in her life, we never heard about it. She screwed people over for money (which, having inherited her parents' fortune after arranging their murders, she did not need,) and thoroughly enjoyed doing it. This would have actually made her a pretty kickass demon, but as a human being she sucked donkey balls. Even when she admitted in tears in her last episode that her theft of the Colt had condemned both herself and Dean to Hell, she didn't actually say she was sorry!

She displayed fewer redeeming qualities IMO than some of the actual demons we've seen on the show, and was a poster child for a type of profoundly selfish, morally bankrupt person little girls should NOT want to grow up to be. The fact that she has so many admirers in the Supernatural fandom to this day makes me shudder and despair for the future of our species.
