(Anonymous) 2014-07-24 09:35 am (UTC)(link)I'm just commenting because I remember how badly everyone in my life handled it (my mom basically shaved my head when I was 13 trying to make me stop, and of course it didn't help a bit, other than making being in public even more anxiety-inducing than it already was, because of people staring), but I also remember that when I found out there was a name for it, that meant I wasn't alone with this weird hair-pulling thing, and that other people have it too, and that it's not just some weird and stubborn "habit" that I refuse to let go of. Finding a name for it helped me understand it, and after that, even control it to some extent.
Of course, I don't know you OP so I don't know at all if you're dealing with that, or with something completely different, but just in case it is trichotillomania, and just in case you're not aware of what it is and that there's a name for it (and that you're not alone with it, if it indeed is that), I thought I'd post this.
