01. Well, I don't know the fandom of the first one (I'm guessing Heroes, because David Anders? But I don't know their characters) but Light and the Saints are pretty different. One big point seperates them, I think: Light kills anyone who gets in his way. The twins only kill those who sin greatly, not even people who commit little crimes (Light kills a lot of petty criminals, too). I'm a big believer in capital punishment, so sue me. I believe rapists and murders do not deserve to live. If that means you lose faith in me, so be it. Whenever I hear of people begging for the lives of violent criminals, my faith in humanity dwindles a bit, too.

Of course it's not that. It's the fact that forcibly self imposed vigilantism has no place in our society. I don't necessarily feel that anyone the twins killed deserved to live and I agree that the would is probably better off without people like them. However, the legal system is in place to protect the innocent, whereas Light's and even the Twins methods (albeit to a lesser extent) ended up being sheer terrorism and they operated by scaring people into behaving the way they wanted.

Ah, I see. That makes a little more sense. But, in a way, capital punishment kind of acts the same way, doesn't it? I mean, people like you and I probably don't ever have the urge to honestly kill people anyway, but many people who do have those urges feel the need to supress them so that they don't get caught and given a lethal injection.

Of course, it was a bit psycho that the twins just killed anyone who they thought deserved it, and really my main point was that the twins and Light were different, so I guess I made my point and I don't want to get into a political debate and end up starting some weird-ass wank or anything, so I'll wrap this up. XD

What I mean is that I'd probably be on the side of anyone who acted like the twins while wanting justice brought to someone like "Kira" - but the thing is, I doubt anyone in reality would be as fair as the MacManus brothers, anyway. If someone had the power to get away with murder they'd probably eventually turn into Light no matter what thier first intentions were. :/

I agree that the MacManus twins were very different from Light and better in a LOT of ways. I'll admit that for the majority of the movie, I was rooting for them and didn't have very much of a problem with what they were doing. Especially since they personally knew all of their victims, who were horrible people and who continually got away with their crimes. (Unlike he majority of Light's victims who were already being punished as the law dictated.) I could never imagine myself doing what they did, but it didn't really truly bother me that they were doing it.

It wasn't until the very last scene, where they went public and basically said "What your step or you're next," that it really irked me, and perhaps that makes me a hypocrite. =\

Ah, no, I can see your point. It's not hypocritical, it's just that I feel the majority of the people they were talking to weren't ever going to be in any danger, anyway, is all.
