For me, it's that Tyrion became a worse person, while Jaime became a better one, and Cersei became stupider, but no more evil.

I'm not sure if Cersei became stupider, personally, or if she simply was no longer being held in check + we got a POV.

I think Cersei's flaws are very similar to Dany's. She's great at scheming to get power. Not as great at actually wielding it.

That's a good comparison. I think the biggest difference is Dany is self aware.

Losing her son and father in a short space of time (and being not unreasonably afraid for her other children and herself) may have messed with her.
