TMI: personal odors

(Anonymous) 2014-07-24 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I've found that now that I'm older, I have stronger, um... personal smells in my lady-garden. Not unpleasant ones, and I'm pretty sure I don't have yeast infection or vaginosis. But the smell is more noticeable, depending on where I am in my cycle. It's as if my vagina wants to advertise when it's ovulation time, and I wish it wouldn't because I'm not having kids, ever. Usually I'll wear the same pants/shorts at least a few days before washing, but in summer that's nearly impossible.

I don't douche, wax or do anything unusual. Is it just me?

I'm pretty sure that's just biology.

It's just getting older. I noticed that at 30. Not only is the smell stronger, but discharge too. It's biology saying DON'T FORGET ME.

I don't want to be too creepy here, so I apologize in advance if it comes off that way, but I'm a straight guy, and it has also been my experience that the smell of a lady's equipment tends to get a bit stronger as she ages.

This is not the ONLY reason I've gotten into the habit of dating women older than me, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a factor. Goddamn, I love that smell.

You're basically going to need to start washing your pants more often and if you don't shower all the time I'd start showering more often. If you don't want to or can't always do that, do some cleaning down there and use some fabric fresheners on your pants.

I've got a bit of a smell down there but as long as I stay clean and my pants are clean, it's not an issue.

And oh yes, forgot to say, doesn't sound like anything you need to be concerned about, just aging.

Could be you, could be your diet. How many fruits and vegetables are you consuming? How much sugar?

A lot of sugar and meat in your diet can lead to a bit more of an odour in that region. There's some truth to the idea that drinking pineapple juice will enhance your personal scent/flavour as well, if you're concerned.

I'd say just keep it clean with water (not soap) - I think that helps wash out sweat and smegma. Wouldn't hurt to get it checked to rule out infection next time you see your gyn. But it is probably normal, like others have said, and also, others probably don't notice it as much as you do.

I've noticed the same thing as I've gotten older. But my doctor has said it's pretty normal.
