That's unfortunate. Could you make another user on your computer, and download it there? And then have a friend of yours change the password until after your thesis is done?

You can redeem the code without downloading or installing the game. You can download/install whenever after that. :)

You can redeem the code and download later. AFAIK it said that July 31st was the dead to redeem it to your account, but you should be able to download it at any time there after.

I wouldn't count on this with end-of-support date behind us.

Why not? It says in the FAQ the deadline is for redeeming the coupon. After that the game is on your account. They ended support in the sense that they won't be fixing any issues or bugs within the game. If you have a problem with installing/downloading it, they are still available to help.
