I don't understand why so many people get so butthurt about this. Like, I understand that sometimes it's important, but in this case it really wasn't. She was like 15 and she wanted her name to be pronounced in a way that sounded cooler to her. When I was that age like 1/4 of the kids at my school went through a phase of mispronouncing/misspelling their name because they wanted to be special snowflakes. Myself included (I tried to get people to call me Ra, which is a syllable in my name, because I was obsessed with Yu-Gi-Oh...). Then we soon all got over it, just like Gou did.

It's not some serious issue of self-identity, it's some kid dicking around.
