You should clean blood stains asap, the best way to dissolve them when they're fresh is to spit on them then wash in cold water. Assuming the blood is yours, of course, because only your spit has the enzymes that correspond with your blood. I've saved about a dozen pairs of underwear that way over the years.

Spit on them? I usually soak them in cold water and then wash them. o.O
